Church Employee Robbed

A man closing the office at St. Helena Episcopal Church was robbed shortly before10 p.m. Saturday June 25th. A suspect described as a thin African-American man dressed in black clothing approached the victim brandishing a silver handgun and demanded money. The suspect took the victim back into the church building where he crudely tied him up and took his wallet and car keys. The victim managed to free himself and call 911. The first officer to arrive on scene observed the suspect attempting to take the victim’s car and a foot chase ensued. The suspect was able to get away and a BCSO K-9 unit responded but did not locate the suspect. Anyone with information on this case is requested to contact the 24 hour dispatch office or Investigator  of the Beaufort Police Department at 322-7960.
